What are the options available to me if my CA articleship is complete but I haven't cleared CA IPCC? This is a general question that I hear from students pursuing the Chartered Accountancy Course (for brevity I will henceforth call the Chartered Accountancy Course as CAC). Though the CAC is undoubtedly one of the best finance course in India, but we also need to remember that it has one of the least passing percentage. The low success rate creates the following risk in every aspirants life. Hopelessness - Though you were always good, you start feeling that you are good for nothing. Desperation - Desperation to succeed makes you vulnerable. Feeling of being a looser, hollowness within and lack of feeling of accomplishment. Sidelined - You feel that your inputs and experience matters to none. In client meeting and audit finalization, your opinion are overlooked. Wayout There are quite a lot of possible options available to ensure that your hard work and knowledge that you gave gained is not drained. Below are the summarised options: Give in but DO NOT give up - Do not think of giving up on CA, unless you really, strongly and genuinely believe that you cannot do it. But before quitting, lock yourself in a room, stand in front of the mirror and ask yourself one last time, can I really not do it. If the answer is affirmative, quit it but do not give up on YOURSELF. Join short term course - Trust me, the amount of knowledge and experience that you acquire over the three years if articleship us comparable to none. You can use this practical exposure to succeed in other equally recognised courses such as Certified Management Accounting, USA (CMA), ACCA and CPA. I have explained in detail about these courses in my other posts, you can refer to it. Stop being pessimist - Do not let negative vibes overtake YOU. Do what makes you feel alive for sometime and then return to take on challenges with new hope. Remember, CA is not the only thing that can make you feel accomplished. I have met many professionals who are not CA’s but are more satisfied and successful. Albert Einstein once said ”A man who never made a mistake, never tried anything new”. On this note, I wish to share my own mantra ”GOD NEVER CREATED YOU TO FAIL IN LIFE” With this, I wish you all the very best for your future accomplishment. Work hard and never give up on YOURSELF.
